Yellow Sky Okaloosa Island, Florida | ||||||||||||
| ||||||||||||
The dunes on the south side of Choctawhatchee Bay have secret hiking areas known to locals. They are shadowed with late afternoon cool colors of blues and purples. This spectacular array of colors reflects on the snow white sand. Please, take a second and tell us your thoughts on this painting. What others have said about Yellow Sky: Beauty In Simplicity I like this one because the light in it evokes feelings from my many trips to Destin. I love this print but I need it to be of Destin, FL. My daughter is going to get engaged at Destin next month. She collects prints from places that are special to her. I wanted to give her a print for an engagement gift. Can I pretend like this is Destin? I just wanted to make sure there was no name on it. I saw your prints of Destin but I would rather have beach than boats.(they are all beautiful) The perfection of color. I remeber as a child on the Gulfs shores...realizing the hue of the sand being abslutely blue.And you got thid blue when there was a yellow sky! Perfect!!! This is my most favorite. The way the sand is captured. I have never seen sand painted in such a manner. I could put my feet right in it. Being a watercolorist myself have always had difficulty painting sand. I could learn lots from Mr. Hills. Mike Koskie I have lived in Florida off and on for forty years, spending a great deal of time at the beach and on the water. This scene is so typical and descriptive of Florida, including the all important lighting; it does make you feel as if you are there. Excellent and very enjoyable to view! This painting just stood out immediately. I love all the colors and I look at it and feel that I am sitting there on that sand in the middle of this beautiful scene. Wish I could afford to buy it. It will inspire me to be more creative when I paint. You are an incredible artist and I will continue to follow you. Thank you for sharing you talent. I live in pensacola and i'm sad to say sights like these are becoming more rare every year. I miss sitting in the shack on the old pensacola peir and eating a spanish bascket with a ice cold bud. Paintings like youre's will save the gulf coast forever. Thank you. the composition is perfect plus the highlight and shadows draw you into the painting. Wonderful! First-it's a tranquil! Second-it's delicate! Third-it uses a wide range of pastel color! Forth-great composition Very talented use of color! I really like the feeling I get from this painting, I hope one day I will be able to paint such a beautiful scene. It captures the feelings I have about the wonderful times I had there on the beaches and dunes in 60's as a kid. Wonderful colors . So vivid. Hope to get to that stage in my painting someday. There is such a play between warm / cool colors and juxtoposition of complimentary colors that really livens this painting. Gives an almost irridencent quality to the overall picture. You definately know the language of color and you take liberties with your knowledge. You have chosen a wide variety of greens that keeps your eye moving (with interest)around this painting. Green is difficult to work with and can make or break a painting. Yet you have masterfully woven greens throught this work. As for your attention to detail. There is just enough information given to get your idea across without being overworked. This also keeps the work fresh and spontanious. Thanks for sharing this painting. I'm glad I stumbled upon it. I liked the color use and the overall design. Both combined to create an almost abstract painting that radiants. A very nice painting. Nice color. Very talented. Your best paintings are the ones that don't over-whelm you with detail. Giclée prints that can be purchased featuring Yellow Sky:
