Patricia Marklin, on January 31st, 2009 commented about the painting Manhattan Beach Palms : Your attention to detail is amazing. I paint watercolors, so I know what it takes to offer such detail. Well Done!
David Biba, on April 6th, 2005 commented about the painting Manhattan Beach Palms : That could have been me on my bike rounding the corner. Of course, on heavy beach days it was "Walk Your Bikes"
at this juncture. Thanks Steve.
Marcy Abowitt Sinclair, on August 12th, 2004 commented about the painting Manhattan Beach Palms : I was raised in Manhattan Beach and graduated from Mira Costa (Class of '63). The picture of the Palms is nice and depicts a nice portion of the Beach. HOWEVER, to me Manhattan Beach is best depicted by its landmark pier. My father, Joseph Abowitt, worked for many many years for the MB - he had a lot to do with the liveability of this City. I have seen MB go through many changes and although it seems nice now - I believe the close unity of the city has changed. I imagine people who live in MB now love it as I loved it between 1945 - 1963. All this aside Mr. Hills, you are a wonderful artist. If it still exists, another wonderful landmark is Live Oaks Park. It has been three years since I've seen Manhattan Beach.
Joe, on July 14th, 2004 commented about the painting Manhattan Beach Palms : Your wonderful paintings of California beaches bring back fond memories for me. I lived in Laguna Beach and a couple other places out there in the middle and late 1960s when I was young. I had a great time and have wonderful memories of being out there. I loved the beaches and the people I met. I haven't been out to California in many years but hope I can make a trip again someday.
